TensorError

Struct TensorError

pub struct TensorError { /* private fields */ }
Expand description

Why a tensor holds no data: the work that was going to write it did not run, so its bytes were never produced.

The root message is behind an Arc shared by every tensor one failure errors, so propagating a failure downstream costs a refcount bump and two tensors below the same root report the same thing. Identity is pointer equality on that root — see same_root.

Implementations§

§

impl TensorError

pub fn new(cause: ExecutionError) -> TensorError

A fresh failure, erroring the tensors the work that raised cause was going to write.

pub fn cause(&self) -> &ExecutionError

What the failing work reported, whole — the error a read hands back at depth zero, backtrace included.

pub fn propagated(&self) -> TensorError

The same failure, one operation further downstream — for the outputs of work that was skipped because an input carried this error.

The cause is shared rather than reformatted, so a read below a long chain of skips still names the failure that started it.

pub fn root(&self) -> &str

What the failing work reported, as a message.

pub fn depth(&self) -> u32

How many operations were skipped between the failure and this tensor.

pub fn same_root(&self, other: &TensorError) -> bool

Whether both tensors were errored by the same failure, however far downstream each one is.
